I want this website to be usable by as many people as possible, including patients who are older, have low vision, or use assistive technology. This site aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA.
What I’ve done
- Text and background colours are chosen to meet AA contrast levels for body text, links and buttons.
- Every image has descriptive alternative text, and decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- The site can be navigated by keyboard, with a “Skip to content” link and visible focus outlines.
- The enquiry form uses clear labels, and errors are announced to screen readers.
- Text resizes cleanly and the page can be zoomed without breaking the layout.
- Star ratings carry a text label so their meaning is read aloud.
Known limitations
I’m continuing to improve the site. I’m currently aware that:
- The gold review stars have lower colour contrast against a white background; the numeric rating is always shown alongside them.
- A small number of decorative labels use a smaller font size.
